Whysual gives you control over your personal data. You can request to delete specific data without closing your account. This page explains your options and how to manage your data.
Request Data Deletion
In the Whysual App:
- Open the Whysual app on your mobile device (Android or iOS)
- Go to your account settings or profile menu
- Look for "Privacy & Security" or "Data Management" section
- Select "Request Data Deletion" or "Manage My Data"
- Choose which data you want to delete:
- All journeys and tasks
- Specific journeys
- All historical data
- Custom data selection
- Confirm your request and we'll process it within 7 days
Via Email:
- Send an email to support@whysual.com
- Include the subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
- Provide your account email address
- Specify which data you want deleted:
- "Delete all journeys and tasks"
- "Delete journeys from [date range]"
- "Delete specific journey: [journey name]"
- "Delete historical records (older than 1 year)"
- We will respond within 7 business days with confirmation
Via Web Account:
If you have a web account, you can access data management directly:
- Log in to your Whysual web account
- Navigate to Settings → Data Management
- Select the data you wish to delete
- Follow the confirmation steps
- Your data will be deleted within 48 hours
Types of Data You Can Delete
Deletable Data:
- Journeys and Goals: All your active or archived journeys
- Tasks and Subtasks: Individual tasks or entire task lists
- Journey History: Historical snapshots and previous versions
- Completed Tasks: Records of finished tasks
- Comments and Notes: All notes and annotations on journeys
- Collaboration History: Shared journey edit histories
- Personal Preferences: UI customizations and settings (optional)
- Sync Data: Cross-device sync records and offline backups
- Support Tickets: Communications with support team
Data Not Deleted:
- Your account profile (email, username, account status)
- Billing and payment history (required for financial compliance)
- AI credit transaction logs (required by regulations)
- Device authentication tokens (needed for account security)
- Legal and compliance records (if applicable)
- Anonymized usage analytics (cannot identify you)
Data Retention After Deletion
Immediate Deletion (Your Request Date):
When you request data deletion, the following happens:
- Data is marked for deletion in your active account
- You can no longer view the deleted journeys or tasks
- The data is removed from your app or web interface
- Your account remains fully active for new journeys
Backend Deletion Timeline:

Data We Keep:
The following data is retained according to legal requirements:
- Billing Records: 7 years (tax and accounting compliance)
- Payment Transactions: 7 years (financial regulations)
- Legal Records: 10 years (dispute resolution and legal protection)
- Anonymized Analytics: Indefinite (cannot identify you)
Special Cases
Shared Journeys (Team Data):
If you have shared journeys with team members:
- You can only delete journeys you own
- Shared journeys can only be deleted by the account owner
- Team members will receive a notification when shared journeys are deleted
- Historical edits you made to shared journeys will be removed
Archived Journeys:
Archived journeys can be deleted using the same process. You can:
- Delete specific archived journeys
- Delete all archived journeys older than a certain date
- Restore archived journeys before deletion (within 30 days)
AI Credit History:
You cannot delete your AI credit transaction history as it's required for:
- Billing accuracy and dispute resolution
- Tax and accounting compliance
- Regulatory compliance
Differences Between Data Deletion and Account Deletion

Important Information
Recovery Period:
After requesting data deletion, you have a 30-day recovery window during which you can contact us to restore your data. After 30 days, permanent deletion is complete and irreversible.
Verification:
For security reasons, you may be asked to verify your identity when requesting data deletion. We'll send a verification email to your registered email address.
Processing Time:
Data deletion requests are processed within 7 business days. You'll receive email confirmations:
- Confirmation that we received your request
- Confirmation when deletion is initiated
- Final confirmation when deletion is complete
What You Should Do First:
- Export or backup any important journeys before deletion
- Inform team members if deleting shared journeys
- Use remaining AI credits before deleting transaction history request
- Review what will be deleted before confirming the request
